Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar to apologize to Nyesom Wike and all those who backed Wike, to stop the divisions in PDP.
He said, “hierarchy of the PDP seeks ways of reconciling with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to heal the wounds inflicted by the recently concluded party’s presidential primary”.
Ortom further said that 14 out of 17 percent of members in the committee recommended Wike for his running mate.
“14 out of 17 PDP committee members said that Wike should be selected as the Vice-president, but Atiku still went ahead to choose Governor Okowa”. He said.
“I have resorted to prayers, and I am waiting for God to tell me if I should vote Atiku, if God approves, I will go ahead and vote for him”.
Meanwhile, Atiku had after announcing the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate clarified that he picked the Governor because he had the qualities to be a President.
He said, “In arriving at the decision, I held wide consultations with various stakeholders in our party including our governors, the national working committee, board of trustees, and other leaders to seek their inputs and their wisdom”.
“In these consultations, I made clear that my running mate would have the potential to succeed me at a moment’s notice, that is, a president-in-waiting”.
In addition, he cited that Okowa has an appreciation of the deep rot which the country by the APC government.
“In other words, the person must have the qualities to be President. The person must have an appreciation of the deep rot which our country has been put into by the rudderless APC (All Progressives Congress) government; understands the great suffering that most of our people are going through and the urgency of relieving them of that suffering; understands the critical importance of economic growth and development to provide our young people with jobs, hope, and a pathway to wealth.”
