Four Super Falcons Stars Nominated For 2022 CAF Women’s POTY Award

Four Falcons players are in the list of the 30-women preliminary list released by Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday.

The Falcon Players are Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Uchenna Kanu.

The most outstanding Nigerian on the list Oshoala will be targeting a record-extending fifth Player of the Year award, after claiming it in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019.

She won the Pichichi award in the Spanish women’s top flight (Primera Iberdola) despite a lengthy injury layoff, scoring 20 goals and three assists.

Nnadozie also won the Copa de la Reina, Supercopa de Espana and the League title as Barcelona Feminin achieved a 100 percent win record in the league last season.

She has scored 29 career goals for the Super Falcons since making her debut in 2013.

Also, in the list, Rasheedat Ajibade won the Nigerian women football freestyle competition for the second consecutive time in September 2018.

Furthermore, Nigeria’s starting goalkeeper in the team’s 2–0 victory over Korea, Chiamaka Nnadozie became the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the World Cup, again she helped the Falconets to Gold medal at the African Games in Morocco saving three penalties in the shootout against Cameroon.

Final on the list, Uchenna Kanu represented Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She made her senior debut on 8 April 2019 in a 1–2 friendly loss to Canada.
