Residents Of Ikpa Road In Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital Decry Incessant Dumping Of Refuse In Drainage Systems

Certain residents of Ikpa Road in Uyo, the capital of the Akwa Ibom state, have reported that some locals frequently throw trash in the drainage, which has caused floods.

When it rains, the trash put in the drainage system, they told Planet News, will clog the road and contaminate the environment. They also emphasized how the act makes it difficult for those who sweep the roads because it requires them to put in extra time to do so.

However, they begged with the government to put policies in place for perpetrators to be punished, in order to act as a deterrence to others, according to our correspondent Aniebiet Aniebiet. Additionally, they begged with their neighbors on Ikpa Road to stop engaging in such behavior and work together to maintain a clean environment.
