
State prosecutors in Comoros have asked a court to sentence former President Ahmed Abdallah Sambi to life in prison for alleged high treason.

Sambi was president between 2006 and 2011 and has been in detention since 2018 on corruption charges.
He faces charges related to the alleged sale of the country’s passports to stateless people living in Gulf states. According to reports, he is scheduled to be sentenced on 28 November.
