United States President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. The 79-year-old leader was experiencing mild symptoms and would carry out his full duties while isolating at the White House.
According to a statement by the White House, Biden had begun taking Pfizer’s anti-Covid pill Paxlovid.
The news was confirmed by the Physician of the Presiden, Dr. O’Connor in the medical report that was sent to Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary.

Dr. O’Connor’s Diagnosis letter stated that President Buhari Screened “Positive” for SARS-CoV-2
“This morning, as part of our routine screening program for the President, the SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected by antigen testing. This result was subsequently confirmed via Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing.”
He then went on to talk about the president’s current symptoms.
“On questioning, President Biden is currently experiencing mild symptoms, mostly rhinorrhea (“runny nose”) and fatigue, with an occasional dry cough, which started yesterday evening.”
“Given that he meets U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) criteria for PAXLOVID I have recommended initializing such treatment.”
